Girish Saran Agarwal
Girish Saran Agarwal, FRS (born 7 July 1946) is a physicist specialising in quantum optics. He currently holds the Noble Foundation Chair and serves as Regents Professor in the Department of Physics of Oklahoma State University.〔
==Life==
Born in Bareilly, India, Agarwal obtained his BSc from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, MSc from Banaras Hindu University, and PhD from the University of Rochester in 1969.
He served as Director of the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad for 10 years, and as the Indian National Science Academy’s Albert Einstein Research Professorship. He has been awarded several prizes, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1982, the Max Born Prize from the Optical Society of America in 1988, the Physics Prize of the Third World Academy of Sciences in 1994, and the Humboldt Prize in 1997.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society,〔 the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, the Indian National Science Academy and Academy of Sciences, and the Third World Academy of Sciences.〔
